The children looked like they had stepped back in time in their Anglo-Saxon costumes. They spent the day in the village weaving willow to make baskets and to keep the piglets safe and went foraging for food and fuel for the fire. They learnt the skills of battle and how to make a shield wall to enable them to protect the village from invaders and tried their hand at thatching to make the roof of their home. They learnt about the importance of the wetlands in Anglo-Saxon times and how children spent their day. The class wrote brilliant account of life as an Anglo-Saxon child following the trip.
