How has thinking and ideas from Ancient Greece impacted the western world?
We studied the Ancient Greek civilisation and beliefs and how these influenced the Western world. Children learnt what the Ancient Greeks believed focusing on Greek Gods and Goddesses, Greek theatre, the origins of democracy, Greek festivals such as the Panathenaea, equality in Greek society and Greek art and pottery. They considered how thinking and ideas in Ancient Greece have influenced the western world: democracy, theatre, and alphabet.
They acted out democracy and a Greek ostracisation. We examined Ancient Greek artefacts from the museum and discovered what these can tell us about Ancient Greece and their beliefs. We followed the Panathenaea to the Goddess Athena, cooked Ancient Greek foods around the campfire and made Greek pots decorated to show our learning.
